Yoga clothing - what to wear?
Since yoga became popular, people that are interested in practicing are bombarded with various offers for different kinds of clothing, mats and other accessories and thus many of them end up making wrong, unadvised choices. No matter what kind of yoga courses you are about to start, there is the inevitable question that you would ask:

Quality yoga clothing will make you feel at your best when you practice and above all, yoga clothes that are comfortable.
Below are some important things to look for when you are choosing your yoga clothing:
- Yoga clothes should be loose and flexible, but never baggy. They should not be too tight and restricting your freedom of movement either. While practising, you need to be able to move at ease. Even shorts with a t-shirt or tank top would work or leggings with a long-sleeved shirt for when it is cooler.
- Your yoga wear should allow you to move and bend freely. There are postures that require great flexibility which tight clothing will make difficult to perform. Further, yoga clothing should always allow you to breathe freely.
- You should be able to see the shape of your body. This is the only way your instructor can tell if you have got a posture right. If you are practising yoga at home and by yourself, especially if you are a beginner, it is better for you to practise infront of the mirror. Then you will be able to see your body and you will know it when you have got a pose right. If your clothing is too baggy, however, you will not see your pose well.
- There are woment that prefer wearing skirts or dresses while practising yoga and there are some very comfortable skirts designed just for that purpose. If you decide to wear a skirt for your practice, just be careful that it does not get in your way.
- It is very important that you choose your yoga clothing according to the climate. You don't want to be too cold or too warm.
- Never forget to remove and jewelry and accessories that might get in your way
- There are many kinds of yoga, but most of them are meant to be relaxing. Choose clothing that makes you feel relaxed and comfortable.
- Most of people prefer practising yoga barefoot. If you happen to prefer wearing socks, it is better that you wear non-skid kind.
The spiritual side of clothing and yoga
There are people doing yoga just for exercise, but there also are people practising yoga as a spiritual path. These people believe that beside flexibility and freedom, yoga clothing should also allow energy to flow freely through the body. Tight clothing can block your energy flow.
Spiritual people also believe that all metal jewelry and accessories interfere with the energy flow.
The spiritual side of yoga is mostly related to meditation. If you intend to do meditation, the right yoga clothing will allow you to freely relax and focus on your breath and thus support you in reaching meditative state.

What else do you need when you are already dressed at your finest?
If you are a beginner at yoga, you need to look for a yoga class. If you prefer practising by yourself and at home, you can do that by getting a DVD produced for beginners. In case that you are experienced, you are dressed and ready to go.
Another thing that you might want is a yoga mat. If you are doing yoga at a place that has a slippery or hard floor, it will give you a non-skid surface to practise on.
This is all you need for most forms of yoga. However, you may find a number of things to pick up in order to aid your practice. There are special supports that help you hold different positions. There also are yoga balls that allow you to go for various sets of exercises and cushions specially designed for meditation.
